Questlove Is Kicking Off the Fillmore’s New Beer Garden

Fish Tank, the new weekends-only outdoor drinking spot in Northern Liberties, debuts with a bang on Sunday.

Fish Tank

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Philly in the summer, it’s that there will never be too many beer gardens. And it’s a good thing, too — because the Fillmore and its neighbors are adding yet another pop-up outdoor drinking spot to the list.

Fish Tank, located adjacent to the Fillmore at 23 East Allen Street in Northern Liberties, is a collaboration between the music venue and its neighbors Punch Line Philly and Philadelphia Distilling.

The spot will feature a full bar plus canned craft beers, frosé, and Capri Sun-esque pouches of tequila-spiked drinks in addition to summery craft cocktails from the distillery. Food-wise, they’ll serve light comfort food bites like Frito pie and fried pickles; there’s picnic table seating and outdoor games to play, and dogs are allowed, too.

A portion of the beer garden’s proceeds will be donated to the Music Forward Foundation, which seeks to enrich the music industry with young and diverse voices.

Fish Tank opens this Saturday, June 2nd, but the real grand opening is on Sunday, when Questlove will spin a set along with the Sundae day party crew. The event is all ages, rain or shine, and phone-free — you’ll be asked to place yours in an envelope upon entering so you can focus on the fun. Adults can get in for $11 per person, kids get in free.

Going forward, Fish Tank will be open Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. until 12 a.m. and Sunday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.
