Beers worth traveling for in Aston and Fairmount.

In Fairmount, Bar Hygge’s in-house brewery, Brewery Techne will release its first in a series of barrel-aged ales on Saturday, November 5th at 12 noon. The ‘Quercus’ series is aged in chardonnay barrels and released in 750ml bottles. Each release will be extremely limited (only 250 numbered bottles). Being released Saturday is “Metaphor”, described as a kettle-soured golden ale brewed with kumquat and Bartlett pear.  The beer is then aged for 6 months. The bottles are $15 each, and sales are cash only.

Stout lovers will be excited to see that 2SP Brewing is releasing brewer Bob Barrar’s “The Russian” at the brewery’s tasting room in Aston on Saturday. The award-winning 9% imperial stout will be poured starting at 3 p.m. Barrar and company are making the tapping an event. There will also be dollar cans of Delco Lager, $3 pints of some other beers and food trucks on site. And as if you needed another reason to head to Delco for the afternoon, there will be $12 12-packs and $24 cases to-go all day.

Earlier this week, we told you about Yards Brawlerfest and can now tell you that there will be a couple of exclusive beers there. Be on the lookout for Washington Reserve, Yards’ General Washington’s Tavern Porter that has then been aged in bourbon barrels. And there will also be a grapefruit version of Philly Pale Ale which sounds like a crowd pleaser.
