Feliz Gang Branches Out With A Pizzeria

Pizzeria Felici now open in Horsham.

No one out there can say that the Feliz crew doesn’t know how to put in a hard day’s work. Even though they closed Beast & Ale in Manayunk, they’ve still got Cantina Feliz in Fort Washington, La Calaca Feliz in Fairmount and Taqueria Feliz in Manayunk. And now they’re adding a 4th: Pizzeria Felici which, obviously, is some kind of sushi restaurant.

No, it’s an Italian restaurant and pizza joint–which is odd considering their previous commitment to Mexican food, but also welcome because who doesn’t love pizza?

Here’s an explanation from Brian Sirhal, who owns the place along with partner and chef Tim Spinner: “We wanted to focus on the kind of food that we like to eat and that young families like ours would enjoy. The great thing about Italian, especially pizza, is that it has nearly universal appeal making it easy to please everyone – whether you’re dining with family, friends or business colleagues.”

He says that a big part of their deciding on the location (303 Horsham Road in Horsham) and the cuisine, was that it be close to where they both lived and something that they both liked to eat. Thus, Italian food in Horsham. Nice how that works out, huh?

So here’s what we know right now. Obviously, they’re doing Neapolitan-style pizzas at Felici, all coming out of a double-hearthed, wood-fired oven. The menu has all the standards, but also ventures outward a little with an ‘nduja and red onion pie, and a potato and egg version that I’m looking forward to trying (because there’s nothing in the world not made better by the inclusion of potatoes).

Elsewhere, they’ve got saffron arrancine, burrata with artichokes, octopus out of the wood oven, big salads, handmade pasta, mains like wood-roasted branzino and veal osso buco, ex-James chef James Burke as a consultant and former La Calaca exec Michael Brenfleck handling the day-to-day.

There are 30 seats at the bar, with Italian wines by the glass and bottle, a menu of classic cocktails and to draft lines.

Most important, Pizzeria Felici is open right now, from 4pm ’til close, and will be adding a lunch service at the end of the month. There’s a copy of the full menu right here. And if you want more details, you can check ’em out at the link below.
