German Bierfest Set for Saturday

The German Society of Pennsylvania hosts Philly Bierfest.

The German Society of Pennsylvania is hosting the fourth annual Bierfest this Saturday, February 21st. The event will take place from 2 pm to 5:30 pm, with early access available to any VIP ticket holders.

The women from Philly Roller Derby will also be hosting the event and will feature acts like Roller Derby Arm Wrestling and Berlin-style BEERlesque, as well as German and American themed live music.

Along with featuring German-style beers from local Pennsylvania breweries and imported beers from Germany, the event will also offer educational content from seminars on German hops to cheese pairing. Maitre Fromager Max McCalman will provide pairing tips as well as lead the tasting Beer & Cheese: Near-Perfect Partners.

Local purveyors like Di Bruno Bros, Birchrun Hills and Talula’s Daily will offer samples, alongside brewers like Victory, Stoudt’s and Penn Brewing. German-style sandwiches and platters will be offered from Wursthaus Schmitz, as well as finger food from Frankford Hall and Brü.

The event will be spread between two beer halls at the German Society of Pennsylvania on Spring Garden. Tickets are $45 for general admission, $60 VIP and $75 VIP plus. Beer-less tickets are also offered for $20 for any children over 12 years old or designated drivers.

VIP ticket holders will be able to attend Bierfest an hour prior to general admission attendees, while VIP Plus ticket holders are able to attend a seminar with author Marnie Old on “Noble Hops: Germany’s Gift to Beer Lovers.”
