Vick: I’ll Address Brother’s Tweet

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael VickAs Michael Vick was receiving a pounding from the Saints’ defense Monday night, his brother, Marcus, decided to go on a Twitter rant, suggesting that the Eagles trade their quarterback to a team that could protect him better.

Vick was asked about Marcus’ thoughts after the game.

“You said he Tweeted that during the game?” Vick said, clearly unaware of the stir his brother had caused. “I’m sorry. I’m unaware of that. That’s something that I’m really going to have to address once I leave here. We’re out there fighting as hard as we can, giving it everything we’ve got, and that’s certainly not the case here. I love each and every guy in that locker room. If I could make every play right, I would. I know they would do the same, so that’s certainly not the case.”

Vick went 22-for-41 for 272 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He didn’t play particularly well, but Vick didn’t have much of a chance either as he was sacked seven times playing in front of a makeshift offensive line. Vick’s turnover came in the red zone, and Patrick Robinson returned it 98 yards for a touchdown.

“They brought an all-out blitz, and I actually thought we were going to get a holding call on Brent [Celek],” Vick said. “But we didn’t get the holding call. Another tipped ball, another turnover in the red zone. Not good.”

The offensive line started the game with three backups, and that number became four when Todd Herremans suffered a first-half ankle injury. Demetress Bell replaced him and was a disaster.

“We lost so many offensive linemen this season, and normally that doesn’t happen throughout the course of a season,” Vick said, when asked specifically about the offensive line injuries. “We’re finding ways to work through it. It’s difficult. It’s tough on us as players. It’s tough on coaches. But we’re battling, we’re fighting as hard as we can, still moving the ball at times and just not finishing. We’ve just got to find ways to do that.”

There will be no quarterback controversy – for this week at least. Andy Reid said after the game that Vick would start against the Cowboys. At 3-5, barring a dramatic (and unexpected) turnaround, changes are coming though. It’s just a matter of when.
