Man Who Fled on SEPTA Charged in String of Bank Robberies

He's suspected in the robberies of four banks and a Wawa in Northeast Philadelphia this month.

Philadelphia police announced today the arrest of Daniel Connelly, who allegedly fled from a bank robbery on a SEPTA bus earlier this week.

The cops say he’s responsible for four bank robberies across the Northeast; he’s also charged in a robbery of a Wawa on Torresdale Ave.

Police say Connelly robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at Roosevelt Boulevard and Welsh Road on Tuesday. He handed the teller a threatening note and left with a bag of money that contained a tracking device. The cops were able to follow the device to a SEPTA bus going south on Roosevelt Boulevard. Officers stopped the bus and arrested Connelly without incident.

Connelly’s alleged crimes all took place this month, including three on Tuesday.
