Eagles Sign TE Evan Moore

The Eagles have filled their open roster spot by signing veteran tight end Evan Moore.

Moore (6-6, 250) was released earlier this week by the Seahawks. He played 104 snaps in 14 games, per Pro Football Focus, and managed one catch for 6 yards on six targets. Moore spent three seasons (2009-2011) with the Browns. His best year statistically came in 2011 (34 catches, 324 yards, four touchdowns).

McCoy: ‘I Feel Like I’ve Let Coach Down’

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy.LeSean McCoy didn’t want to answer the question.

Asked what kind of reaction Andy Reid would draw from fans in what could be his final game at the Linc, he said, “I’m not thinking like that. I don’t want to answer that type of question. As far as I’m concerned, he’s our coach right now and hopefully in the future.”

But the reality is that McCoy is probably playing his final two games for the coach that drafted him in the second round of the 2009 draft. Even though the team is 4-10, coming off an 8-8 season last year and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2008, McCoy still stands firmly in Reid’s corner.

“I think so,” McCoy said, when asked if Reid is underappreciated. “If you sat here and tried to name five to eight coaches that’s better than Coach Reid, I would like to hear them, because Coach Reid’s a good coach. He gets blamed for everything. Sometimes if you break down the film or break down the plays and the mistakes, how do you fault the coach for that? But I guess people have their own opinions and their minds are made up. The thing about the team is we know how good of a coach he really is. Whatever happens, happens. I’m behind Coach Reid 110 percent.”

Business Decision Coming For Jake Scott

Jake Scott is a football player. And as he demonstrated earlier this offseason, he is also a businessman.

Scott reportedly turned down several offers this offseason because the price wasn’t right. His streak of 121 straight starts went up in smoke, and the 31-year-old was without a team for more than half the year before ultimately signing a one-year deal with the Eagles. After all that, he’s on the verge of hitting free agency again.

Anderson Receives Ed Block Courage Award

Teammates have voted Colt Anderson as the Eagles’ Ed Block Courage Award recipient for 2012.

The award goes to players “who exemplify commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.”

Anderson suffered a torn ACL in Week 13 of last season, but got back on the field after missing only one game this year.

All-22: What Colt Anderson Is Doing Well

Andy Reid was asked Wednesday what Colt Anderson’s shown to earn one of the starting safety spots.

“We asked him to fill in the line of scrimmage and be a physical player in there and he did a nice job with that,” Reid said. “We needed that at that time and so we’re going to need it this week. They [the Redskins] run the football and do a good job with that so we’ll leave him in that position and let him continue to do that.”

In the past two games, Anderson has 19 tackles, according to team stats, and has made several plays at the line of scrimmage. Below are some examples of what he’s done well – both in run support and coverage.

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Nnamdi Willing To Cut His Pay?

Philadelphia Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha.Nnamdi Asomugha was asked on Wednesday how important it is to him that he stays in Eagles green beyond this season. The question was tied to his sizable contract, and the reality that changes surely are ahead.

“I think really important. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” said Asomugha.

So you would make decisions potentially coming from that stance? If sacrifices were asked to be made?

“Yeah, I mean all I can say right now is I really wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” he replied. “I definitely want to be back here.”

And with that, we have our first indicator that Asomugha could be open to restructuring his deal.

Allen Demotion Another Hurdle For ’10 Draft Class

The top of the Eagles’ 2010 draft has been a popular topic of conversation here in Philadelphia, and not for the purposes of throwing verbal bouquets at the parties in question.

Brandon Graham, the choice over Jason Pierre-Paul and Earl Thomas.

Nate Allen, the Donovan McNabb pick and successor to Brian Dawkins that just doesn’t have those Dawkins’ qualities.

Both have spent time recovering from serious knee injuries and both have spent time down on the mat. Graham’s struggles have been highlighted more given that he was the 13th overall pick and it’s so easy to contrast the start of his career with that of Pierre-Paul’s. Beat up and labeled a bust, Graham looks like he has turned the corner and his stock has rebounded.

Allen’s, meanwhile, has taken a hit, as Andy Reid announced on Wednesday that Kurt Coleman and Colt Anderson would be the starting safeties against the Redskins this week.

McCoy: Why Wouldn’t I Want To Play?

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy.LeSean McCoy doesn’t understand why some people think it would make sense for him to sit out the final two games of the season.

“Why would I want to play? Why wouldn’t I want to play?” McCoy said today. “They pay me to play this game. I love to play this game so why wouldn’t I play? My teammates are out there playing.”

Just How Good Of A Gig Is It?

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy ReidThere is a healthy debate going on right now about just how desirable of a gig the Eagles’ head coaching job is.

The answer is of great significance at the moment, given that the team will be in the market for a new head man very soon, and nearly a third of the league may have openings as well. There stands to be a good deal of competition for the top available talent (see: Chip Kelly).

“This is one of the great jobs in America, the head coach of the Eagles,” said Ron Jaworski on 97.5 The Fanatic. “It’s been a down year and last year an 8-8 season, but that doesn’t take any of the luster off being the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s one of the great cities in America. Everybody loves to be a coach in a large city — Philadelphia, New York, Chicago. I know for a fact that there are a lot of coaches that would like to coach the Eagles. There is a lot of glamour to that job.”

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Offseason Shouldn’t Center Around Foles

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. The Eagles should plan on continuing to develop Nick Foles in the offseason. But they shouldn’t anoint him the quarterback of the future and shut the door on the position when shaping their roster in the coming months.

Clay Harbor Placed On Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Eagles TE Clay Harbor.Clay Harbor has been placed on injured reserve with a lower back injury, the team announced Tuesday. No corresponding move has been made as of yet.

Harbor sustained a back contusion on Thursday night against the Bengals.

The third-year tight end out of Missouri State finishes the season with 25 receptions for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was the primary tight end against Cincinnati as Brent Celek sat out with a concussion, and caught three passes for 30 yards.

Celek has been cleared to return and is expected to play against the Redskins Sunday. In his absence the Eagles activated Emil Igwenagu, who will likely get some playing time against Washington now that Harbor is out.
