Eagles Wake-Up Call: New-Look Curry Ready For Anything

Curry has been focusing on footwork and drops in the event that the new coaching staff opts for a version of the 3-4 and moves him to outside linebacker. Like Brandon Graham, Curry played some linebacker in high school before switching to defensive end. In his first couple seasons at Marshall the Thundering Herd ran a 3-4 and he was asked to drop into coverage some, he said.

There is some familiarity with playing in space. And this isn’t exactly a crash course, as Curry has has been readying himself for a potential position change for a while now.

The Eagles’ Safety Options In Free Agency

The Eagles will have options to fill their safety needs in free agency and the draft. This year’s group of safety prospects is considered deep and talented. But as we’ve seen in years past, going into the draft searching for specific needs can lead to mistakes.

And this is not an either/or situation. The Eagles should look to identify young safety talent in free agency and address the position if possible in the draft. As we wrote about on Sunday, the Birds are in good cap shape and could be in position to take advantage of a market where the supply might very well out-weigh the demand.

Here is a look at some of the Eagles’ options.

Lehigh ‘Eager’ To Hear Eagles’ Training Camp Plans

The Eagles have held training camp at Lehigh University for the past 17 years. Whether that tradition will continue this season is very much up in the air.

Andy Reid found value in bringing his team to the quiet hills of Bethlehem, believing that it promoted team bonding. The Eagles continued making the trek each summer as more and more teams around the NFL opted to stay at home. The question now is whether Chip Kelly will have a different method of thinking than his predecessor.

The Eagles are under contract with Lehigh University through 2013, but have not yet committed to holding training camp there this summer.

“I can share that we are eager to hear the plans of the organization in light of the coaching change,” said Lehigh Dean of Athletics Joe Sterrett in an email Monday.  “We’ve been sensitive to the priority of getting a staff together and then preparing for and being away at the combine.  I expect that plans for mini-camps and camps will be resolved soon so that final preparations for the draft can occur without the stress of other matters.  For now, we wait.”

Graham Preparing For Move To Linebacker

“I think linebacker is where I’m going to be — outside linebacker,” said Graham in a phone conversations with Birds 24/7.

Graham says he played at around 270-275 last season. He is in the process of trying to get down to around 260 so he can move better in space.

A Look At the Eagles’ CB Options In Free Agency

When the Eagles are officially able to start adding players on March 12, rebuilding an underachieving secondary will be near the top of their list of priorities.

The draft will be critical, especially this year with a deep group of safeties and several starting-caliber corners. But that doesn’t mean Howie Roseman is just going to sit on the sidelines and observe during free agency. This is not an either/or situation. The Eagles have money to spend and holes to fill. They will likely address the secondary in free agency and the draft.

Keeping that in mind, who are their options at cornerback?
