The Lezborhood
In 2024, we gave Val’s Lesbian Bar — at the time little more than a logo and an Instagram page — a Best of Philly award simply for the idea of bringing lesbian nightlife back to Philly. Now, with their smash-hit hot pink bi-level bar (opened in March) steps away from queer women’s-sports bar Marsha’s, they’ve done just that, instilling some liveliness on a small chunk of long-forlorn South Street. The cheeky name fans have given the area — the Lezborhood — deserves an award of its own.
