Update on the Electric Run Philly

A lot of you have asked about what’s going on with the Electric Run, which was canceled two weekends ago when, ironically enough, lightening was spotted and the city shut it down. Last week, organizers promised to reschedule the event—refunds are out of the question, as stated in the race’s terms and conditions—and said runners could either enter the rescheduled race free of charge or transfer their registration to an Electric Run in another city.

As of Friday, when I asked for a status update, organizers replied in an email, “While we are planning to reschedule, we have not yet been able to lock in a date for either 2013 or 2014. All participants were notified via email on how to transfer their Electric Run registration to another open event.”

I asked a couple friends who I knew had signed up for the race, but all but one said they hadn’t received any such email. So the one friend who did shared her email with me so I could post it here, in case the Internet ate your copy, too.

Here’s what to do if you want to transfer your Electric Run registration, from an email dated July 25th. (Note: You can also take a survey here to share your thoughts on the run with race organizers.):

Dear Philadelphia Electric Runners –

Thank you for your patience. We apologize for the delay. We had hoped to contract our return date to Philly with the City before sending this out. We have not received confirmation yet, so we will put you on the ‘notify me’ list, and will send as soon as we have that locked in!

We are happy to inform you that you will receive FREE entry to our next event in Philadelphia! And if you cannot wait to attend Electric Run Philadelphia, we will TRANSFER your registration, FREE OF CHARGE, to any Electric Run event with availability in 2013 OR 2014. There are some exciting cities out there!! We understand you paid to ‘See Our WORLD’ and we want to provide that value to you.

A few have asked for a refund, and unfortunately that is not possible. We want to be up front with you about that from the beginning by presenting our Terms and Conditions, “The Releasees reserve the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to postpone, cancel, or modify the event due to weather conditions, Acts of God, Acts of Terrorism or other factors beyond the control of the Releasees that might affect the health and/or safety of the participants.” No refunds will be granted during the registration process.

• Use the code when registering to get a FREE entrance into the event

Please be aware that you will not receive an additional Packet. Please hold on to your shirt and bracelet for the next event that you attend. However, you will still need check in to receive a bib. We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events!!
