It was also the birthday party for Stimulus producers Morgan Levine and Amber Hikes. We captured some of the hottest moments of the party below.

Your Big Gay Guide to Thanksgiving Week in Philly

Thanksgiving Week

If you’re a vegetarian, like me, you don’t really look forward to the centerpiece on the big ole’ Turkey Day meal (but, I’d be willing to bet that you do overload on mashed potatoes and that green bean casserole thingie). Instead, you’re plotting out your Thanksgiving week, which is notorious for parties, events, and festivities that you simply can’t pass up (just like that cranberry sauce in a can). We here at G Philly came up with our best bets of everything going on in gay Philly during the week of Thanksgiving, broken up in a day-by-day, easy to follow guide. Consider it your recipe for a holiday well-done. Read more »

In a week weighed down with sad news, I thought it would be fun to focus this week’s #GayPhilly Instagram roundup on some of the more heart-warming snaps I saw throughout the week. It all started Sunday with what may have been the gayest wedding ever.

Ryan and Foster, also known as popular Philly drag performers Lili St. Queer and Mistor Fahrenheit, were the happy couple. Here they are the morning before their wedding at Voyeur Nightclub.

GIRL TALK: Chatting With Prairie Bitch Nellie Oleson (aka Alison Arngrim)

alison arngrim nellie oleson

Before Lindsay and her gaggle of mean girls, there was Nellie Oleson, Little House on the Prairie‘s golden-haired living terror. Nellie had an upper hand over those other girls, though, because she didn’t need a gaggle to be mean. She could do bitch just fine all by herself.

This week Alison Arngrim, the actress who so convincingly brought Nellie to life, will storm into Philly to perform her world-traveling one-woman show Confessions of a Prairie Bitch at Voyeur. Being a longtime fan of the show, I jumped at a chance to talk to her. We gabbed some back stage secrets (you’ll never believe who was the real bitch on the set), being hit on by Grizzly Adams, and how she came to amass such a gay following (hint: having a bisexual father who worked for Liberace didn’t hurt.)

Q&A with Alison Arngrim after the jump

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Nellie Oleson is Coming to Voyeur

Heads up, children of the ’80s (and younger fans of TV Land): Nellie Oleson is coming to Voyeur.

Alison Arngrim, who played Little House‘s sassiest prairie girl, is bringing her one-woman show, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, to Voyeur, where she’ll share secrets from behind the scenes of Little House, and dish dirt on some of her ’70s and ’80s counterparts, like Marie Osmond, RuPaul, Phyllis Diller and Bette Midler. This will be the first time the show has played in Philadelphia since embarking on an international tour in the early-aughts.

GIRL TALK: A Conversation with Factory Girls Creator Katie K Rex

The Stones and Warhol both had their factory girls, and now the Gayborhood does, too. The all-girl, gender-queer party Factory Girls has evolved over the years to become a staple of the Philadelphia nightlife scene. The next party is the femme-licious Galentine’s Day rager starring rapper Kid Sister.

In anticipation of the evening, I had a chat with Factory Girls “madam” Katie K Rex. We chatted Factory Girls history, favorite headliners and about her rumored plans to take the party to New York City.

Take me back. How did Factory Girls get started?
At one point it was just a weird idea about how to play music. I had just started DJing, and obviously no one would book me because I had nothing to show for myself. So I decided to make my own gigs. My girlfriends and I were able to create a space for us to dress-up, drink champagne, act a fool, and play music in a city that is dominated by the male gaze and musical “boys clubs.” I hit up Xavier B. of FNGR BNGR, who forwarded me to Oronde of South Street’s late, great Fluid Nightclub, where we were graciously given a Thursday night in October of 2011.

LISTEN: Rena and Drootrax Release “Jealous”

Rena Drootrax Jealous

Rena has done it again with another sexy, super-danceable song that’s full of Gayborhood philebrities.

“Jealous” — her newest collaborative effort with DJ Drootrax — is a fun, sassy club anthem that will hopefully start making the rounds at local dance spots. The video was directed by Harry Paris at Voyeur. It’s a pot de crème of queer freakiness that will wet whatever your wild may be. “My body’s on, and my nails are tight/ This mug is beat and I run the night,” Rena coos as she flaunts her burlesque skills in a diamond brazier and thong.
