Big expansion plans for the neighborhood bath-and-body shop.

The plans have been brewing for a while, and it’s finally here (well, almost): Duross & Langel, one of the cornerstones of the Midtown Village retail scene, is undergoing a major expansion.

The boutique, which recently expanded into the space right next door (formerly the home of fashion star Rakia Reynolds’ PR firm Skai Blue Media), is reaching far beyond its humble-ish beginnings as a handcrafted soap shop and branching into full-on lifestyle empire status. You’ll still find the retail space in the same location, at 117 South 13th Street. Only now the third and fourth floors of the building have been transformed into a yoga studio and (still-in-progress) salon.

The yoga studio opened to the public yesterday (the entrance is at 109 South 13th Street; you’ll have to buzz in and take the elevator to the third floor). See class schedules here. As for the salon, owner Steve Duross tells me it will “98 percent finished by Sunday.” Expect a public opening closer to the end of the month or early next month.  Can’t wait? See the progress of the space here. And in the meantime, expect great things.
