The menu at this petite restaurant is a testament to chef Daniel Stern’s quirky style. Expect “#15 Combination: Scallops and Sweetbreads/Potatoes, Peas, Lemon Cream.” It’s an experiment in the trust between a chef and his diner, and Stern has earned ours.

The food is absolutely amazing and so creative. We have been there several times and it is always delicious. The service is outstanding...my favorite place to dine and reasonably priced for high quality food. A truely delightful dining experience.

Gayle is a hidden oasis in Philly, on par with the best restaurants in New York and Paris. The food is refined but the restaurant isn't stuffy or "fancy." The best food in Philly in a relaxed restaurant -- an excellent combination.

Had a fabulous dinner at Gayle again this weekend. Each time I go, I am amazed by the layers of flavor and the delicious fare. The chicken with waffles was succulent, tender, and... fabulous!

What a gem of a restaurant. The food is creative but not intimidating; the atmosphere is warm and casual but lovely; and the service is excellent. I had the risotto fingers with truffle and the veal stew (I had read about it in Food & Wine) and I loved everything. Plus I thought the prices were very reasonable for such a high quality of food.

This place is one of my favorites. The food combinations are quite unusual, and probably not a place for those who are "meat and potatoes" folks. It is quieter than any of the Stephen Starr places, which makes for a more pleasant experience. I plan to go back and enjoy the experience again.
