This Tux Rental Company is Basically Rent the Runway for Guys

Ever since Rent the Runway first launched back in 2009, it’s become a fantastic shopping resource for ladies who need an outfit for a special event but don’t want to deal with steep price tags and the dread of purchasing a dress you know you’ll never wear again. I have yet to test the site out for myself, but I think it’s an awesome concept—especially since you can do everything online and they make shipping and returning super stress-free—and we here at PW weren’t at all surprised when the company began to catch on with brides, ‘maids and wedding guests.

The only thing missing from Rent the Runway: options for the guys.

That’s where The Black Tux comes in. The suit-rental site is very similar to Rent the Runway in that it offers the men in your life an easy and convenient way to outfit themselves in quality suits, tuxedos and accessories for the Big Day.

Here’s how it works: On the website your hubby-to-be will find a variety of well-tailored, 100% merino wool suits and tuxes, plus shirts, vests, cufflinks, neckwear and leather shoes, too. (They recently collaborated with cult-favorite brand Ovadia & Sons on two summer-perfect suit styles.) He can choose to customize his own look (and looks for his groomsmen) from the available options, or he can opt for one of the “complete outfits” The Black Tux team has already pieced together.

After your groom has paid for his outfit, The Black Tux will send out an email to everyone else in your bridal party to let them know that their suits or tuxes are ready to rent—you can even keep track of which guys have submitted their measurements and payments. Orders ship for free and will arrive seven days prior to your event; they’ll quickly replace any ill-fitting items and you won’t have to return anything until after the party.

Sounds pretty simple and hassle-free, yes? They even offer an at-home try-on program so your crew can test out the style, fit and quality of the suits prior to ordering.
