Neff, New SRC Chair, Issues Public Statement

“The governor has asked me to serve as chair of the SRC."

Following Sunday night’s surprise news that Gov. Tom Wolf has dumped Bill Green as chair of the School Reform Commission, new Chair Marjorie Neff this morning has just issued her first official statement through the school district.

“The governor has asked me to serve as chair of the SRC to help realize his vision for public education,” she said in a statement. “I am hopeful that my background and experience as an educator and a parent will be useful to the task at hand.”

“I would like to recognize Bill Green for his strong leadership of the SRC through very difficult times. Bill has shown himself to be an extremely capable and dedicated member of the SRC. I look forward to continuing our work together with the other SRC members and Superintendent Hite to provide a quality education for every Philadelphia student.”

Prior to serving on the SRC, Neff was principal of the well-regarded Masterman School. The Inquirer noted this morning that she’s “the first educator to chair the system’s board since the late Ruth Wright Hayre was president 22 years ago.”
