St. Patrick’s Day Festivities For Those Who Know Better

Some more St. Paddy's celebrations that don't suck.

If you’re not into Miller Lite with a green food dye, but still looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this Tuesday, here are a couple more options for you.

Taproom on 19th is adding a little Hibernian twist to their Taco Tuesday deal, with corned beef and sauerkraut tacos, fish and chips tacos, and potato, cabbage and beer-infused cheddar tacos. And no matter what the holiday, who doesn’t love a taco? They’re also offering $5 Irish Car Bombs, $5 drafts of O’Reilly’s Stout and Great Lakes Irish Ale and $4 2 Gingers Whiskey shots. We suggest drinking margaritas.

Oh, but wait. What if an Irish potato milkshake is really what you’re after? Then you’re in luck because P’unk Burger is offering some Irish-inspired eats, too. For the whole month of March, P’unk Burger is serving the 4th Streeter burger, featuring corned beef from Famous 4th Street Delicatessen, cole slaw and Russian dressing. If you’re looking for something sweet, they’re also featuring an Irish Potato Milkshake, with salted potato chips and house-made coconut, cinnamon and sugar pieces in a coconut cream base. This one is a collaboration between P’unk and Little Baby’s Ice Cream, because of course it is. And while it might not be green, it should still be better than a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake.

Finally, Sassafrass has enlisted the talents of their Belfast-born baker-turned-barman Fergus for a collaboration menu. He and chef Matt Daggett will be doing sausage sodas (Irish sausage on soda bread), boxty, offering an Irish cheese board and other specials. Oh, and there’ll be plenty of booze, too.
