Vick Exits With Concussion, Eye Injury

Michael Vick was forced into the locker room early in the second quarter with a concussion and an eye injury. He will not return.

On 3rd-and-2 from the Philadelphia 37, Ernie Sims came loose on a blitz and hit Vick as he threw. The pass sailed high on what would have been a big gain for McCoy down the left sideline. Sims helped Vick to his feet, and the offense jogged off the field.

Moments later, Vick was heading inside with trainers by his side. Nick Foles took his place under center.

Jason Avant also left with a hamstring injury. His return is doubtful.

Vick has been taking a beating this season but had not missed a snap up until this point. Heading into the Cowboys game, Vick had been knocked to the ground 134 times by Ron Jaworski’s count. At that rate, an eventual injury seemed inevitable.

Vick sustained a concussion last year against Atlanta when he was tackled into teammate Todd Herremans. He returned the following week against the Giants.
