Injury-Riddled Day For Eagles At Lehigh

Thursday’s afternoon practice was one of the milder ones we’ve seen at training camp so far, yet player after player left early with some type of ailment.

The good news is nothing appears to be too serious.

LeSean McCoy and Nate Allen both exited with cramps. (It was one of the hottest days yet.) O.J. Atogwe suffered a groin strain. Jamar Chaney left with a hamstring injury and is scheduled for an MRI Thursday night.

Todd Herremans did not practice and was seen working with some of the other injured players on a  separate field. It was later revealed that he has a shoulder injury, the severity of which is unknown. Evan Mathis was ill and did not attend. Cullen Jenkins sat out with a hamstring strain.

DeMeco Ryans missed some snaps and seemed hobbled at times, but continued to play through it and only said, “I’m fine” when talking to reporters afterwards. He was not listed on the injury report.

The plan was to go live during practice as they have since the hitting began, but opted to cut down on the physicality presumably because of all the bodies that are dropping.

The defense practiced without its entire starting front-four and the offensive line was two-fifths empty. The starting middle linebacker looked nicked, two safeties walked off, ditto the star running back. A lot of breath-holding, but nothing season-altering as far as we can tell.
