Eagles Injury Report: Two Players Ruled Out For Cowboys Game

The Eagles will be without a key starter against Dallas.

Bennie Logan and Kamu Grugier-Hill are the two Eagles players who have been ruled out for Philadelphia’s Sunday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. Doug Pederson confirmed as much during his Friday morning press conference.

Logan, who suffered a left groin injury against Washington, might have a chance to return to the field in Week 9, according to Howard Eskin. Pederson did note Logan is “doing better” recently.

In the meantime, Logan’s absence is especially significant this week as the Eagles are set to face the NFL’s top rushing attack. Dallas is averaging 161.2 rush yards per game, largely thanks to standout rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott. Philadelphia’s defense will be tasked with stopping him despite missing their best run defender.

“It’s big anytime you lose a great player like Bennie for a couple of weeks,” said Pederson. “But I’ve always been under the ‘next man up’ mentality. And there’s where we’re at. We did a nice job of filling in for him last week. Even with just three tackles last week, and now the addition of Taylor [Hart] gives us a little more depth with that. But, yeah, any time you lose a player like Bennie in the middle it can definitely hurt you a little bit.”

Filling in for Logan will be third-year defensive lineman Beau Allen. Allen recorded three tackles, one fumble recovery, and one quarterback hit during last week’s Eagles-Vikings game.

“Beau played good,” said Pederson. “He’s a guy that gives you great effort every time he’s in there. Obviously, the fumble recovery was big for us there. Beau’s consistent. He’s solid. Just fortunate to have him be one of our tackles.”

As Pederson noted, the Eagles also claimed Hart off waivers earlier this week. Hart was limited in practice on Thursday and won’t practice Friday but Pederson said he should be ready for Sunday’s game.

“He’s been on a roster and practicing and all that,” said Pederson. “So it’s just a matter of getting familiar again with the terminology. But he will be able to give us some good work.”

Jordan Matthews (knee) and Mychal Kendricks (ribs) will play on Sunday despite being limited in practice on Wednesday. Jason Peters (biceps) has been a full participant in practice all week.

As far as the Cowboys go, star receiver Dez Bryant is expected to play this week despite being ruled questionable.
