Vick Doubtful, Fletcher Questionable

Michael VickHere is the Eagles’ injury report for Sunday’s game in Green Bay:

Doubtful: QB Michael Vick (hamstring), LB Jake Knott (hamstring)

Questionable: CB Bradley Fletcher (pec)

Probable: CB Rashad Carmichael (groin), S Patrick Chung (shoulder), WR Damaris Johnson (ankle), T Jason Peters (pectoral, shoulder), RB Chris Polk (shoulder, knee), DE Cedric Thornton (knee), G Julian Vandervelde (knee).

Vick is not playing in this one. Chip Kelly on Thursday indicated that Vick is not all that close to a return.

The player to keep an eye on is Fletcher. He has been a steady presence in the Eagles’ secondary and leads the team with 12 passes defensed. The Eagles could put Brandon Boykin on the outside if Fletcher can’t go, though that would weaken them in the slot. Carmichael and the recently-signed Marsh are the other corners on the roster. Fletcher is confident that he’ll be able to play.

Thornton practiced in full the past two days after sitting out Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect Earl Wolff to start even though Chung is listed as probable.

Another chance for Nick Foles to shine……..

Vick Doubtful [to ever play in an eagles uniform again]

      Careful what you wish for….

      • G_WallyHunter

I’m not wishing for anything. Don’t peg me as a “Foles lover”, I’m an Eagles fan.

Just stating what is obviously apparent, if Foles plays 2 (or more) more games half as well as he played in Oakland, Vick won’t see the field again.

The Eagles FO might even make the conscious business decision to have him inactive for a few games (or more) to save those active roster bonuses (I believe it’s $32,500 he gets for every game he’s active, correct me if I’m wrong)

        • Richard Colton

he gets a 1,000,000 if he plays in, and wins the Superbowl. wouldn’t that be a nice sendoff – have MV line up in the backfield in the Wildcat on one play in the 4th quarter? getting ahead of ourselves though.

I get what you’re saying regarding the roster bonus, but 30k isn’t a lot of $$$ in the grand scheme of things. Sitting him to save pennies would be Braman-esque, wouldn’t it? Especially considering the leadership/class Vick has shown this year.

          • G_WallyHunter

Agreed, but if his hammy is that bad, sitting is the only choice. It is pennies to them, but all this penny pinching is what has the Eagles in the cap position they’re in. He’s basically been reduced to his $7mil guaranteed.

The bonuses for playing time are diminishing every game (90% of snaps to 80% to 70%), and the active bonus, well they are too. As long as that hammy is bad enough to make him inactive (worse than Barkley), then they will keep saving that $32,500

Hope Foles stays healthy and continues to lead the offense at a high level. We’ll get a lot of answers about the future of the Eagles if he does… or a higher draft pick.

Are you running the Andrews story?

    • Richard Colton

Thats funny. Illadelph and I were talking about the similarities between Jonathan Martin and Shawn Andrews a few days ago – then yesterday he goes on the radio and reminds everyone about what a weirdo he is.

      • JofreyRice

        that was a real tearjerker

        • Richard Colton

I don’t typically listen to Mike Misanelli, but it was a great interview. Andrews is convinced that there was a team wide conspiracy against him led by McNabb. So clueless.

We’ve had two star quality guards in 20 years. One was blind and one was crazy. That’s the Eagles.

          • JofreyRice

It’s really a shame, because he’s not kidding, he really was a fantastic player. He mauled people and he could pass protect like crazy. I think his first game, he threw a key block that sprang Westbrook for like a 60 yard run. Then broke his leg, and was gone for the year on IR. The guy is only 30, had he not gone off the deep end and/or had his back problems, it’s conceivable he could still be here, playing at a high level.

          • Pennguino

That is the Eagles luck. We could have the worst record in the league and still not be able to draft first… Oh wait we already did.
