There’s a new weekly beer running club in town, people: The Manayunk Beer Runners. The Fishtown Beer Runners announced in their newsletter last week that the Manayunk Beer Runners, led by local runner Dave Scarpello, is the latest addition to the network of official Beer Runners chapters. (Yes. Yes, my friends: That is a real network with real chapters. Amazing, we know.)

MBR’s inaugural run, a four-mile out-and-back run on the Manayunk Towpath (no hills!) will go down tonight, September 12th, at 6:30 p.m. The run will meet under the Manayunk Bridge and end at at Mayaunk Brewing Company at 4120 Main Street. All fitness levels and paces are welcome, so if you’re looking for an excuse to drink beer on a Monday evening, I think you’ve found it. (You can thank us later.)

In the future, weekly runs will be between three and five miles and, in typical Beer Runners style, will end at a tavern, a member’s house, or another location that has — and this is key — quality beer. You can join the Manayunk Beer Runners’ Facebook group here to keep up with future run details.
