The Color Run just announced that it will host the U.S.’s first nighttime Color Run in Philly on October 18th. Why our city? “Because we love Philly so much,” organizers say on the website, but also (and probably more to the point) because the Color Run Philly has sold out every single year so far.

The Color Run Night is an untimed 5K in which participants are doused with “glowing colors” (their words, not mine) at each kilometer. At the finish line, there’s a massive party, with fireworks, music and dancing and a group “color throw,” when you’ll be instructed to explode the extra color packet included in your run swag.

Speaking of swag, runners will get glow-in-the-dark shirts, glow gear and other to-be-announced surprises. Registration will open on August 1st for those on the VIP email list, which you can sign up for on the run page. No word yet on how much tickets will cost, but I’ll keep you posted.
