12 Days of Fit Gifts: Garmin Forerunner 10

On the sixth day of Fit Gifts my true love gave to me: a cool new watch guaranteed to help me PR.

What: Garmin Forerunner 10

Why it’s cool: Garmin’s newest GPS watch, the Forerunner 10, is a hot item this holiday season. Why? Because it’s a great bargain in the running-watch world at just over $100. The Forerunner 10 is tailor made for beginner runners, as it’s extremely simple to use and much smaller than previous Garmin watches. Basic features include pace, total distance, and calorie burn, and the watch carries a water resistance up of up to 50 meters. Bonus: these watches come in cool colors, too.

Who it’s for: Know anyone who’s downloaded the Couch-to-5K app recently? There’s your lucky Forerunner 10 recipient.

Cost: $129 at Philadelphia Runner, 1601 Sansom Streem, Philadelphia.

    • cliff henny

dumbest part is labeling kelly a cheater and acting like he ran from Oregon, for what, a slap on the wrist? a scholly a yr, no bowl ban. com’on. and every school outside ‘bama would snatch kelly up today and figure out no-show clause down the road.

      • GEagle

especially since Kelly didnt get top 10 recruiting classes to begin with

        • PsychoPathetic1

That’s what excites me about Chip with the birds. Now he has NFL talent to work with. He did pretty good with less than stellar college kids.

      • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

LSU would pay whatever amount to get him there. Can you imagine, him and Saban yearly, with top talent?…….

Wait, no! Stay in philly chip!

    • knighn

Every time I think of Clay and Casey Matthews I think of the movie “Twins”.
Clay is Arnold Schwarzenegger and Casey is Danny Devito.
The biggest problem with my comparison? The movie “Twins” is still funny and Casey Matthews just sucks.

      • GEagle

ahahahah I havent heard that one yet…good stuff. Sad stuff, but good none the less

  • Brent E. Sulecki

Elliot Harrison was spot on, Silver linings playbook was much better than the the 2 Hangover movies.

Wish we would stop giving so many hacks this platform. This column should be changed to:
What Mayock,Caplan,Didinger and Peter King are saying about the Eagles…although it is fun to make fun of trolls like LaCon-Poophead, and Heath been hit in the head too many times! lol

had to edit in Poophead…wouldnt want the Nazi Police to delete my post lol ;)

ne AFC executive believes that Bill Belichick was the only coach willing to take a fourth-round flier on Aaron Hernandez back in 2010.
The executive says that Hernandez was a clear second-round talent at the time, but his off-field issues raised serious red flags. Many teams completely removed him from their draft board. Although Hernandez appeared to keep his nose clean through three seasons with the Patriots, we’re now learning of other incidents prior to Wednesday’s murder charge. A Connecticut man has filed a civil suit in Florida alleging Hernandez shot him in the face in February, he reportedly had a run-in with a Jets fan in May in which a gun was involved and a picture has surfaced of him standing in a mirror holding a gun. Hernandez also had failed drug tests while with the Gators and is rumored to have gang ties.
    -Boston globe
    ..
Ohhhh BTW, AH is now a suspect in a double murder in boston 2012..where a silver suv wuth RI tags opened Fire on a car at a stop light killing two men and injuring the 3rd……Apparently Senior Hernandez has watched way too much “Training Day”….KING KONG AINT GOT bleep ON ME!!!!!

Thanks u to Bellicek and Kraft for giving this sociopath the means to pay for good attorneys…although his lawyer yesterday sounded like an idiot

    • cliff henny

read where he had 3 rental cars at the time…what is a guy who just got 12m in signing bonuses doing with 3 altimas (nothing wrong with it for most) rentals? and with all these unregistered guns…something more is going on here i bet…wonder if he was into dealing?

      • GEagle

ohhh ish certainly hasnt even begun to hit the fan yet….all kinds of ish is going to come out about this psycho…dealing is the least of my expectations….

        • cliff henny

he used his money to start drug operation or something. was protecting territory. just the gun charges, he could see 20 yrs in Mass, they are serious up there

          • GEagle

I hear this Odin mess is because hernandez didnt like what Odin said about him to mutual associates a few days prior….like are you kidding me/?
            ..
Kraft bankrolling drug operations in Boston…smh..

All i know is drugs BETTER be involved. Its almost worse if they arent involved because its means this monster is running around shooting people for some seriously silly reasons….shoot someone over 100,000 of dollars, atleast I can understand(its the american way lol JK)…but how screwed up do you have to be to go around murdering people over tough guy Pride and reputation?

          • cliff henny

100k to a guy making millions. it was all about street rep. there is simply no way this isnt juvenile street cred bs

          • GEagle

yeah but street rep comes into play, if the streets know someone owes you money and you ain’t doing anything about it

          • eaglepete

totally agree, he seems like a psycho with some of this past stuff coming out. And the victim “talked” to people he had a beef with at that club so he calls up his buddies. It better be something more than just pride BS or he really is just crazy. Dragging your friends into it also, or vice versa who knows. It almost seems like a few of them might have done the shooting together is my guess, or his boys did the actual deed. He may get a reduced sentence if thats the case but still going to the pokie

          • cliff henny

if he orchastrated the murder, and that’s what it sounds like they are going after him for, it’s still murder 1, even if he didnt pull the trigger. they have a pretty solid timeline along with text, sounds like he was planning it out for couple days.

          • GEagle

I could be wrong, but my understanding is there is a lot of evidence that points to him being the/one of the shooters

          • cliff henny

that his bubble gum wrapper is basically inside a shell casing? yeah, he probably did…but if they can show premeditation, and have you seen a timeline the cops put out? sure looks like he did, they dont need to even put a gun in his hand.

          • GEagle

No…as in surveillance cameras catching him getting out of his car with a gun in his hand a few minutes after the murder, him walking into his home and down the hall way with the gun in his hand….dumb ass wasn’t even smart enough to delete all the video footage of that night

          • GEagle

Now they are saying…Odin was telling a group of dudes, don’t mess with AH or you will end up like the double murder in July 2012…so they think AH killed Odin because he could no longer trust him to keep his mouth shut about the July 2012 double murder.
Murdering people to cover up Murder? At what point do you become a serial killer.

          • cliff henny

sounds like he’s crossed it. heard that too, was in another rental car RI license plates, rolled up on them at street light grand theft auto style. i’d be flipping if i were those 2 other guys, sounds like AH has a one tract clean-up plan

          • stephenstempo

Doing drugs very rarely make people violent murderers or else there’d be an awful lot of violent murderers running around.(running drugs is a bit different). You generally have to be pretty “touched” in the head in the first place to kill someone over anything.Which is why it’s fairly rare (well a lot of recreational drugs.. Certain hallucinogens might make you not realize what you’re doing.)

          • GEagle

im not under the impression that AH is doing dugs

    • PsychoPathetic1

Hernandez stood there yesterday like he had been through the arraignment process before.

  • Dominik

“And we’re not even counting Bradley Cooper. Just saw Silver Linings
Playbook. That’s easily better than either of the last two Hangover
movies, and I didn’t even bother seeing Hangover III.”

I don’t get it. What’s the Eagles allusion to this?

    • GEagle

you didnt see silver lining? a movie about Rabbid eagles fans? atleast a sub plot lol

      • Dominik

No, didn’t see Silver Lining. But with that context, it makes sense. ;)

        • GEagle

great Movie…I expect a 2 page book report on my desk come monday lol

          • GEagle

      • BrickSquadMonopoly

Ya a sub plot…isn’t that a chick flick?

    • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

great movie. best and most accurate portrayal of philly sports and the fans that I’ve ever seen from Hollywood.

    • southy

kind of a dumb segway. he was just looking for an excuse to talk about the movie.

  • JofreyRice

So what if Kelly did “cheat”? Granziano acts as if he’ll forever be branded with a scarlet “C”, and shunned for the rest of his days. If he wins, no one is going to care. If he loses and falls flat on his face, he’ll be remembered as a failure that couldn’t transition from the college game. The “cheating” will be a little remembered footnote. I think Dan’s a bit out of touch.

BB is widely considered the best coach in the league, and his infraction seems to strike me as much worse; he doesn’t seem to have suffered any long term repercussions to his rep, even though the best he’s done since then is lose in the SB twice. Pete Carroll was a “cheater”, but very few people seem to have a problem with that, outside of his most passionate rivals–even though the team has had a bunch of PED violations. I’d bet dollars to donuts S.Carolina has a couple years to grab a national title before sanctions come down on that program–they seem to have taken an unnaturally large step forward with recruiting.

All that being said, I do think the sanctions played some role in Chip coming to Philly. For better or for worse, he’s really going to be judged on one thing: his record, and ability to win a Lombardi.

    • GEagle

I havent heard a peep about Pete Carrol cheating in years
      ..
      Real solid post Jofry

    • Chris

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I think Graz was a little to hard on CK, cheating is still cheating, but his infractions aren’t nearly enough to ruin his reputation, in my opinion.

      • GEagle

Cheating? as in doing what everyone else has been doing since the 80s?

        • Chris

it’s only cheating if you get caught (Belicheck)

    • eaglepete

couldnt agree more thought that was about the dumbest thing Ive read concerning the NCAA and their ridiculous sanctions. What about the other teams that used that same guy and no team if they were to rehire CK in college would care at all about that silly penalty. Its comical, why not penalize him if/when he goes back to coach in college, how utterly stupid is that useless 18 month penalty now. Dan Patrick brought up a good point, the NFL and Colts penalized both Tressel and Pryor, yet nothing for Kelly most likely and/or Carroll and Im sure there are others. Its selective punishment in a way.

    • http://www.corcommunity.com/ theycallmerob

Nick Saban went back to college and got re-hired immediately, many now hailing him the greatest college coach. Not that he was especially scandalous, but just saying…If Chip quit tomorrow, 25 teams would be on the phone. Heck, Bobby Petrino got a job again! Talk about cheating!

Coaches are about as honest and trustworthy as politicians. Throw in the whole booster B.S. in college (while coming down hard on the “student”-athletes), and I could care less what the NCAA has to say about Kelly or anything else.

      • Max Lightfoot

Have to agree – coaches can’t afford to truly speak their minds and neither can politicians – if they want to keep their jobs, that is. Fans will pooh-pooh their own coach’s cheating (“Hey, everybody does it!”) but scream bloody murder when another team’s coach does it. Nature of the beast. And don’t get me started on college and the booster nonsense. Student-athletes, indeed!

        • stephenstempo

          You spelled “slaves” wrong.

    • stephenstempo

This whole “cheating” label in College sports is stupid. He’s a coach. That’s not cheating. If he say taped the other teams practices, or sent scrub players onto the field to take out QB’s knees, or distributed steroids to his kids, or paid off the officials. That is all “cheating” within the game itself. Kelly is known for his Footbal IQ. I’m not sure fudging some paperwork is really calling into question whether he knows X’s and O’s.

    • Bob A

The whole thing is nonsense. He got nailed because a recruiting service that Oregon used, contacted players on days when they weren’t supposed to, and took them to dinner. If the NCAA wants to have rules that fly in the face of the way anyone would recruit anyone else for any job in the business world, that’s their right. But don’t come to the fans and act like he’s some type of horrible cheat. The NCAA’s hypocrisy is endless, if we don’t want to respect their organization, that’s OUR right.

  • Wilbert M.

Sheil – any chance of a Celek trade to the Patsies? Maybe a 5th rounder??

    • aub32

That’s a bad trade. Why would we want that?

      • eaglepete

Celek on the down side, get something for him while you can. I like the idea. I also like him in the mix this season though as well so really not a big deal but an interesting idea anyway.

        • cliff henny

i liked idea before draft, but not now. all TEs arent the same to kelly. while casey, ertz and celek are all classified as TEs, not really interchangable parts. so moving celek, still need to replace him with in-line TE, guess Harbor, but not huge on him either. maybe dangle shaw, carrier or harbor, but cant see them getting us much back

          • GEagle

We need Celek as a stop gap until we AQUIRE Colt Lyeria

          • cliff henny

how important is this position, specifically the in-line blocking TE, to kelly? CL is going to be early rounder. have to prioritorize some of these. 1st and 2nd are as good as gone in my eyes, for teddy b or marioti, and still will need safety and cb.

          • NickS1

come on, we drafted a safety in the 5th, got phillips and chung and still have allen, coleman and anderson….. (trying to keep straight face)

          • cliff henny

            what’s the issue?
philips is fine, kelly is the ACL-master
            chung, belichek is clueless
            wolff, he can really jump
allen, without spotlite of nnamdi pointing at him, he’ll flourish
anderson, good at special teams means he’s also good safety
coleman…well, he just needs to carpool with hernandez

          • GEagle

Jarius Byrd is coming to Philly!!! Lol

          • GEagle

Wait, you think they will draft Teddy in round 1, and MRiotta in round 2? Really?

          • cliff henny

yup, all 7 rounds, all qbs, we’re finding a freaking qb by this time next year, lol.

          • GEagle

hahaha interesting strategy. I won’t get into future QB debates until I can rule out our 2 young QBs as starters

          • cliff henny

            2? forgetting about someone

          • GEagle

            huh? GJ Kinney?

          • cliff henny

lol…if Kinney is named starter…in that case, and in only that case, dutch would be correct about eagles games being blacked out

          • GEagle

Dutch Correct? How DARE YOU Cliff
            . Lol

        • MAC

Terribletrade. If Ertz orcasey get hurt who plays then? Also Ertz is a rookie and even guys like Gresham at TE struggle in there first year. Celek is not in his prime, but a 5th rounder is basically the same as the compensation pick we would get after Celek signed somewhere else when he is a free agent. It makes no sense.

      • Wilbert M.

There’s been talk that Chip likes the hybrid type TE and that Casey and Ertz fit that profile more than Celek. Personally, I’d love to see Celek have a season where he finally puts it all together, stays healthy and doesn’t drop passes and fumble (and he starts to act like it’s not the first time he ever made a first down).

        • aub32

My problem isn’t with trading Celeck. My problem is for a 5th rounder. Celeck is still a starting caliber TE in this league. He can help us win games this year. With more two and 3 TE sets, it will go a long way having three good TEs, especially if one of them gets hurts. And what will that 5th round pick do? It will not help the 2013 Eagles in the slightest and will most likely result in a project who probably won’t start in 2014 if ever. You don’t just throw away assets just because the player isn’t a super star and you have new pieces.

          • Wilbert M.

I’d love to get a better pick than a 5th rounder, but I don’t think that’s realistic. The Eagles are rebuilding and if you can trade an older player that’s not a good fit, I think you go for it.

          • aub32

How is he not a good fit? He’s still one of the better TEs in the league. Ertz hasn’t even played a down, Celeck’s numbers from last year alone are almost equal to Casey’s production over his entire career, and you want to get rid of a proven starter. Last I checked, you keep good players and make your scheme fit them. Is this not what we’ve heard all offseason? Some of you fans are far too ready to buy into the novelty of players. Thank goodness you guys are only armchair GMs. Please stick to Madden.

          • GEagle

Celek won’t be here Next year, and I know this to almost be a certainty. I won’t say how I know this, because I would rather not be cut off just to make a point to an ignorant fool over the computer screen…I’m trying to tell y’all something, without telling y’all something…but you to dumb to realize it!!! Yet you have the audacity to talk about Madden.
..Celek won’t be here next year, FACT…just remember this, this exact time next year…
            ..
            Silly

no need for you to get Butthurt Nd rude over an average TE you know NOTHING about!!!…

Y do I bother…This is the last time I try passing something along. get your intel from the awesome media, a year late hahahaha

But let me fill you in on something, there is a HUGE list of players that the Eagles are keeping their eyes on, broken down by position, broken down between sections 2013, 2014, 2015 and ranked..There is a column for existing NFL players, and college players who will be coming out of the next 3 drafts…you can fill in the blanks your damn ignorant self!!! Lol…this same exact list is in most of the offices of the higher personel people at the novacare complex

          • cliff henny

like to get my hands on that list…sounds like there should be couple floating around

          • GEagle

You and me both….someone has gotten a glimpse of a few of the names at the top of a few Columns…give my right arm to see the entire thing

          • GEagle

What makes him a good TE? Being at the top of the league in catches over 20 yards? Hahaha Ried ran him 20 yards down field on every single play lol
Do you have any idea how poorly his blocking was rated last season? Or just how injured he has constantly been? or the fact that he is friggin SLOW by coach Kelly standards lol.you are on the down side of your career, you will be replaced the two seasons…just setback watch, and let the good times roll hahaha..Older TE’s are all in trouble. The position is changing, there are more and more TEs coming out of college that Dwarf Celek in terms of ability…Celek is a safe player, NOTHING SPECIAL!!!

          • GEagle

Celek isn’t going anywhere u til we draft Lyeria. regardless of what Celek does this year, he won’t be here next year, so it’s. Ot the worst idea to take what you can get for him?..even if it’s not Lyeria…there are all kinds of drastic young upgrades available…Serfian Jenkins, there is a kid at Iowa with a polish name who has the exact measurements, size, athleticism as GRONK…
3 years from now, a guy with Celeks attributes would be fortunate to be a number 2 TE in the league…funny that people are so in disbelief that an average TE, who is the slowest weapon on our TE and never close to healthy is going to get replaced

          • aub32

There’s no point in even having his discussion with you. I know fully well where you stand. You’d trade half the team if it meant you can stock the roster full of guys that you have no idea what they are, because “who knows?”

          • GEagle

Call the WHAAAAmbulance!!! Cry me a river build a bridge and get over it…btw, I don’t speak about what I do not know…

          • aub32

That’s why I said no point in discussing it with you. Rather than provide contribution, you make sophomoric remarks. My point stands Celeck has been one of the most productive players on this team. To say his career numbers dwarf that of Casey’s would be an understatement. I have ridiculously high hopes for Ertz, but he still has yet to take a snap. Also, in a system where we know multiples TEs are key, you’re suggesting getting rid of arguably the best one for a 5th rounder that may not make the team. This all because you “know” who will draft next year despite the NFL or college season playing a single down. I’d make a request for lotto numbers but that been done numerous times on these threads. So instead I’ll just ask for you to sit and be quiet. People with actual points are talking.

          • GEagle

I’m not the one who decided to talk shit to you out of the blue for no damn reason!!! And you actually think now I’m going to read more then your first sentence?

          • cliff henny

celek had a bad ’12. i wouldnt of questioned a predraft trade where we could have replaced him with in-line blocking TE. it’s too late now. if celek is traded or moved, who’s taking over for him? casey is hback, ertz is off the line TE. celek does need to improve his play in ’13 to not be on the ‘upgrade’ list, like safety and corner

          • GEagle

Yeah it’s too late to replace him for this year…we need him to free up Ertz so he can basically play as a wideout in 2013..,, I hear the Pats might go after Andy Reid’s guy, what’s his name…Moahaki or something like that(the starting TE)

          • http://theadulttoysstore.com/ The Toy Goddess

What Eagle didn’t have a bad ’12? It was just a BAD year.

          • GEagle

I didn’t suggest a damn thing about getting rid of Celek for a 5th right now!!! You are talking shit for no reason..you have the audacity to talk about Madden, yet when Demeco gets traded for a 4th, and Anquan BOldin gets traded for a 6th, you are scoffing at a 5th rounder for Celek? Hahaha who’s the madden fanboy? Lol

          • GEagle

Your problem is a 5th rounder? For someone who talks about Madden, Madden is the only place you can get more than a 5th for Celek

        • stephenstempo

You’re right No way Kelly needs more than 2 TE’s at all.

        • GEagle

Even when Celek is Healthy, he isn’t ever really healthy….I give him props because I hear that he has played through a lot more thA. The public has known about….but if something is literally ALWAYS slowing you down, what’s the point?

    • Jack Waggoner

I wouldn’t do it. On the trade market you may have a point as to that valuation, but he’s worth more to the Eagles than that. And if the Pats like him, he’s worth more to the Pats than that. Of course, I would rather see if the Pats don’t have a spare part we would want so that if we deal Celek we would have someone in return who could help us sooner rather than later.

  • cliff henny

if i was the NCAA, my first stop would have been figuring out the real relatinship between Oregon football and Nike. what kelly was found guilty of didnt give them huge competitive advantage. yeah, they contacted recruits too much, but still have to get them to oregon. better like rain and weed (well, 2nd part doesnt seem to be issue). sounds like a lot of grey area between Phil Knight as a booster and the Nike corp. but, wont ever happen cause how many millions does nike throw at the NCAA is just licensing

    • stephenstempo

If I were the NCAA my first step would be paying the sla… I mean players.

really what they should do, cut the charades and seperate college football and basketball (men’s) out from under the other 86 sports. have 2 seperate rules. why ‘bama football and winston state womens feild hockey teams are guided by the same rules is completely stupid. one is semi-pro, one is amatuer, not difficult to tell the difference, even at small schools

Dan jumped the gun a little bit. He likes to write stuff that’s gonna make his readers think, and wants to put out an opinion that (while not necessarily controversial) separates him from the rest. I have no problem with that generally.

In this instance, what CK “did” might just be the most innocent of the newsworthy NCAA violations in the last 20 years. 1 scholarship lost, nothing about bowl eligibility, and a “if you want to hire Chip Kelly for the next 18 months you have to tell us why.” A cheater? Gimme a break. It was basically like “Hey Chip, your program is not supposed to do this and your documentation is lacking.” “We can’t do that?” “No.” “Oh. Well, I guess I’ll accept responsibility for whatever it was.”

Have to agree with Eliot Harrison. The Eagles’ QB “controversy” is a silly sideshow compared to the colossal question marks concerning our threadbare defense – but I’ve been saying that for months. The next two drafts will plug those defensive gaps with decent players, hopefully. Go Eags!

On the plus side it probably can’t get worse after last year.

threadbare defense? Get a clue. We have tons of talent, it just needs to develope. Threadbare would be the saints

I like to think I have a clue. Not much more, maybe, but a clue. “Tons of talent” at cornerback, linebacker and safety that just needs to be developed? I hope Chip Kelly has his magic wand ready to “develop” all this talent. I also hope the Eags win the NFC East, but I’m not holding my breath. We have no idea what’s going to happen back there, but as Mr. Stempo puts it, it probably can’t get worse than last year. I also like to think a person can be a fan without being unrealistic, but YMMV.

I don’t get college football. The NCAA basically gets billions? of dollars and free labor then has the audacity to come down on anyone who wants to make money off of it that’s not them and people eat this up. You want to see how popular college football really is? Ban gambling on it and see how they do.

    • cliff henny

whoa, let’s not get crazy here. so a handfull of kids get screwed over and used, some might even get an ok education out of it, but leave gambling out of this!
