Recording Academy to Honor Springsteen at the 2013 Grammys

Grammys to Honor The Boss. The Recording Academy has announced that 20-time Grammy-winner Bruce Springsteen is its 2013 MusiCares person of the year. Springsteen will be honored at a special dinner in Los Angeles in February. [Philly.com]

Michael Vick Gets Married. The Eagles quarterback is set to tie the knot with his longtime girlfriend, North Philly’s Kijafa Frink, at a Miami hotel on Saturday. [Daily News]

Orchestra Emerges from Bankruptcy. The Philadelphia Orchestra has finally emerged from bankruptcy after a judge approved its plan for reorganization. More than a year ago, the Philadelphia Orchestra became the first major U.S. orchestra to file for Chapter 11. [Inquirer]

Sixers Draft Harkless. The Sixers drafted Maurice Harkless with the 15th pick in last night’s NBA draft. Harkless was the Big East Rookie of the Year last season as he averaged more than 15 points and eight rebounds as a Freshman at St. Johns. The Sixers also traded up for the rights to Arnett Moultrie. At 6-foot-11, Moultrie averaged 16 and 10 for Mississippi State last year. [Yahoo!]

NJ Passes University Overhaul. Jersey’s legislature has approved the measure that will make University of Medicine and Dentistry a part of Rutgers and essentially restructure the entire higher education system in the Garden State. [Inquirer]

Doug Collins: Olympic Broadcaster. The Sixers head coach will be working for NBC this summer as a basketball analyst for the network’s Olympic coverage. [Crossing Broad]

DUI Guy Does It Again. The Vineland man who made news earlier this year when police arrested him for his fifth DUI in as many weeks was arrested last night after authorities spotted him allegedly throwing an alcoholic beverage out of his car window. [NBC Philadelphia]
