When the history of the ’08 primary is written, the pivot is likely to turn out to be Pennsylvania — twice. At the Drexel debate in October, Hillary Clinton botched an answer on immigration, forming the first crack in her “inevitability” strategy and setting the stage for the Obama surge. Then came her March 4th comeback. “I think what happened at Drexel took them by surprise,” state pollster Terry Madonna says of the Clinton camp. “She recovered, but they still needed to find a way to deal with this hip young black guy.” April 22nd might tell us for sure if they did.
