The Great Pennsylvania Wine Toast

60 Wineries across the state team up to break a Guinness World Record

Despite the absurd new PLCB wine kiosks — and the absurdly stern liquor laws that created them — Pennsylvania considers itself a state with a thriving wine culture. Or, at least the Pennsylvania Wine Association thinks so. In a nod to our love of vino, 60 wineries statewide will team up on Saturday, August 14 for PWA’s Great Pennsylvania Wine Toast — an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest wine tasting ever conducted. The current record is 17,450 people, set at more than 400 pubs across the United Kingdom on May 21, 2008.

Want to raise a glass for the record? Brandywine Valley’s Chaddsford Winery will be participating in the massive toast, which will take place at 4:00 p.m. Starting at 2:00 p.m., they’ll host pre-toast festivities like tours of the winemaking and barrel-aging cellars. Participants in the toast at Chaddsford will receive a free commemorative wine glass, filled with Spring Wine. The winery will also donate $2 from the proceeds of each wine tasting to the Fund to Benefit Children & Youth, which benefits abused, neglected, and at-risk kids.
