Hava NaGrilla: The Kosher BBQ Contest

Compete or just eat at this family-friendly barbecue competition

Head to the bar mitzvah of barbecue competitions on Sunday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Willow Grove Day Camp. Dubbed “Hava NaGrilla” (oy vey, what a pun!), the Kosher BBQ contest, which benefits the Golden Slipper Club & Charities, will award prizes for best beans, brisket, chicken, and ribs; a grand BBQ champion will also be named. Register by May 28th through the Hava NaGrilla website to compete — and make sure to think of a clever name for your team, like The Hebrew Nationals (pictured) did last year. If you don’t have the chutzpah to belly up to the grill, there are plenty of other activities to participate in — a dodgeball tournament, TastyKake-eating contest, live music and entertainment, and, of course, trying the ‘cue. Tickets are $5 per person and $20 per family; purchase advance tickets online to register to win an Apple iPad.
