A patient at Lankenau Medical Center fled, stole an Aramark van and crashed it into Indian Creek, police said.

The made-for-tabloids story happened Thursday morning. The crashed van was discovered by Lower Merion police just after 4 a.m. Cops then notified the hospital, who had been searching for him.

The man drove into the creek while searching for the hospital’s exit.

Per CBS 3, the man was wearing his hospital gown and still had an IV in his arm. First responders had to cut off part of the van to free him, the Daily News reported. The driver was taken to HUP with serious injuries.
