It’s nice to get a little history lesson with your clams casino. To knock back a $7 beer in a chilled pilsner mug and eat one of the best carbonaras anywhere in a dining room that looks like it hasn’t been redecorated since the Eisenhower administration. Chefs Joey Baldino and Max Hachey took over the historic Bomb Bomb Bar in deep South Philly early last year and turned it into a master class in neighborhood nostalgia, serving a prix fixe Italian seafood menu that’s full of reimagined classics by two of Philly’s most astute culinary preservationists. It’s approachable, comfortable, brilliant, and delicious.
