On Monday night, April 7th at 6pm at the DoubleTree Hilton in Center City, City of Hope will be putting on it’s 10th (10th!) Let Them Eat Cake wedding-cake competition and event—which means lots of champagne, lots of fun, lots of opportunity to find your favorite flavor, cake design, and quite possibly, the baker who will bake it, and lots and lots and lots of fondant. (As a past judge, I can attest: so much fondant.)

This event is so awesome because a) it is seriously quite the exciting competition, with over 40 so-talented bakers from around the area showing up with their prettiest and tastiest work, b) it benefits an amazing cause; the City of Hope research and treatment center does so much for people struggling with cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses, and c) is just about as good a showcase as any engaged Philly couple is going to find for seeking out ideas, inspiration and, well, bakers for their Big Day confection.

While you’re wandering around eating your weight in cake, you’ll also be able to enjoy the aforementioned Korbel champagne and live music from BVT Live. Tickets are $40 online or $50 at the door, all of which benefits the City of Hope.

See ya there?
