Mo’ne Davis on Cover of Sports Illustrated

Taney Dragons star pitcher Mo’ne Davis is on this week’s national cover of Sports Illustrated. She’s the first little leaguer to appear on the front cover.

Philadelphia’s own Mo’ne Davis is on the national cover of Sports Illustrated this week. The Little League World Series star is the first little leaguer to appear on the magazine’s cover.

“Last week, this week, maybe next week, she’s owned the sports conversation,” SI managing editor Chris Stone told his magazine’s own website. “How often do you get to say this about a 13-year-old girl? It’s the easiest type of story to identify as a cover story.”

Taney plays Wednesday night against Mountain Ridge of Las Vegas, with the winner advancing to the United States championship game. Don’t worry, fans: The SI cover jinx has been debunked.
