Houston Overtakes Philadelphia as Fifth Most Populous Metro

Houston has overtaken Philadelphia as the fifth largest metropolitan area in terms of population according to new analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data. Apparently the Houston area has grown significantly since 2010 to have a total population of 6.22 million people. The Philadelphia metro area has grown too, but only enough to reach 6.02 million. It’s the first time Philadelphia has ever been ranked outside of the top five in population. *Sad trombone* [Houston Business Journal]
