THIS WEEK IN GAY PHILLY: February QOTA, DVLF Wonder Women’s Film Series and More

Burlesque Battle Royale Tabu_13

PHILADELPHIA BURLESQUE BATTLE ROYALE: We’ve reached round six of this 10-week competition to find Philly’s fiercest burlesquer, and this week’s theme is “Classical and Comedy.” The final four contestants, the Amazing Brettzo, Miss Ty, Holly Ween and Mistor Fahrenheit will square (shimmy?) off, and there will be a performance by Philth. Tue., Feb. 18, 9 p.m., $8, Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar, 200 S. 12th St.

FEBRUARY QOTAIt's QOTA time again, when homos gather on East Passyunk Avenue to mingle and browse some of what the South Philly's Gayborhood has to offer. This time around they're meeting at The Bottle Shop to try "hoppy and malty beers and ales" and, for those who don't like beer, vodka cocktails and wine. Wed., Feb. 19, 6 p.m., free, The Bottle Shop, 1837 E. Passyunk Ave.

DVLF WONDER WOMEN FILM SERIES LAUNCHDelaware Valley Legacy Fund's Wonder Women committee, a team dedicated to "developing programming for LGBT Women and philanthropy," launches its new film-screening program with Mountains That Take Wing, a documentary that highlights the work and ideas behind powerhouse female activists Angela Davis and Yuri Kochiyama. Wed., Feb. 19, 6 p.m., free (donations accepted at the door), First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St.

NEON GNDRFCK BALL: "Intergalactic queen cunt" Icon Ebony-Fierce hosts this Studio 54-themed dance party/performance art show at Tabu. Daquan, Mistor Fahrenheit, Luna Lavey and Pretty Girl are slated to perform. Costumes encouraged. Wed., Feb. 19, 9 p.m., Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar.

DISCOTASTROPHE: From Hannah Feinberg on our sister blog Ticket: Forget the period kitsch of American Hustle costuming; don your own platforms and perms this Wednesday at Dumpsta Players‘ camp-tacular “Discotastrophe.”   The show takes improv to ’70′s excess, with “guest appearances” from Andy Gibb and plenty of polyester, but rest assured your indulgence is not self-serving.  A portion of the proceeds benefit Gaudenzia House, dedicated to improving quality of life for people affected by mental illness or chemical dependency. Wed., Feb. 19, 10 p.m. doors, 11 p.m. show, $1.99, Bob and Barbara’s Lounge, 1509 South St.

It’s not the final four contestants… Talia Zatana, Sinnamon, and Dr. Hyde are still going to be there, and only one of them will be voted out this week. It’s the top six tonight.
