G Philly’s roundup of what’s going down on Fat Tuesgay.
Slap a little doggie tux on your pooch and escort him to the Puppy Love Valentine’s Party. The soiree benefits Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA), and includes “acoustic love songs” by the Jon Hagen Band, comfort food from Smokin’ Betty’s and Devils Alley, and desserts by Passyunk’s Miss Goody Cupcake. PSPCA will also be hosting a puppy adoption booth for those of you who show up “single.” 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., $40, 23rd Street Armory, 22 23rd St.
Scribe Video Center is hosting the Philly premiere of director Grace Lee’s Janeane from Des Moines. The film — a “mixture of documentary and scripted material” — follows ultra-conservative housewife Janeane Wilson (Jane Edith Wilson) to the Iowa caucuses, where she engages with Republican candidates Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, etc … I don’t want to give it away, but there’s a gay twist that comes along that challenges Janeane’s conservative beliefs to the hilt. Director Grace Lee will be in attendance for the screening. See the trailer here. 7 p.m., $8, International House, 3701 Chestnut St.
Drag Wars Cycle 2 coaches Brittany Lynn, Navaya Shay, Lisa Lisa and Omyra Lynn each have three members for their teams, but there’s still a fourth spot to fill. Tonight, find out who goes where, and witness the “special twist” Mimi Imfirst has been ranting about on her Facebook page. 11 p.m., call for price, Voyeur, 1221 Saint James St.
Tammy Faymous is a crazy bitch, but she ain’t apologizing for it. At tonight’s Mardi Gras karaoke, she’s offering a free drink to the “first person to sing an entire song with their top off.” Send pictures! 9 p.m., free, PYT, 1050 N. Hancock St.
