Fat Head’s Beer Is Coming to Philadelphia
When New Belgium Brewing came to town a few months ago it was met by a collective “meh” by all but some homesick Colorado ex-pats. I wondered then if there was any brewery that could come to town that would get the hopheads excited. Had we become jaded. Perhaps more a bit more parochial, preferring our own beers to the new interloper. Or maybe with the bar being raised across the nation, someone else’s favorite beer isn’t nearly the outlier as it might have been a decade ago.
But it appears that the arrival of Fat Heads Brewery is creating at least a little buzz. The award winning brewery out of Ohio, Pittsburgh and Portland, Oregon is arriving in town this week with a bevy of events. The award winning brewery is rolling out its beers this week. Today Fat Head’s will be at Capone’s in Norristown and tomorrow the events really kick off with events throughout the city.
Among the highlights are:
The Cambridge – On Tuesday, January 12th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the South Street beer bar is hosting an official release event with five beers on tap and a spread of “headwiches,” the big sandwiches that Fat Head’s serves at its brewpubs.
From 9 to 11 p.m. Jose Pistola’s gets in on the action with four beers on tap beginning at 9 p.m.
On Wednesday, Fat Head’s makes itself known in Northern Liberties. The Standard Tap will have several of its hoppy beers pouring while Jerry’s Bar is hosting a takeover and the kitchen is turning out Primanti-style (fries and coleslaw) sandwiches.
Also on Wednesday night, six bars welcome Fat Head’s to Doylestown (Station Taphouse, Finney’s, Chambers, Penn Taproom, Mesquito Grille, Muggs).
On Saturday, January 16th, the University City location of City Tap House is hosting a chill brunch with laid back jams. Experience all 8 of the beers via a flight.
