Eagles sign punter McBriar

The Eagles have brought in some competition for Chas Henry, announcing Wednesday morning that they’ve agreed to terms with Mat McBriar on a one-year deal.

Just two years ago, McBriar was a Pro Bowler with the Cowboys. The 33-year-old spent the first eight seasons of his career in Dallas.

Earlier this week, Eagles special teams coach Bobby April indicated that he needs to see more from Henry.

“I want [Henry] to elevate his game and he wants to elevate his game because he is a good punter,” April said. “He’s a talented guy. Just needs to be a little more consistent in pushing that line of scrimmage a little farther away from our goal line.”

Overall, the Eagles’ special teams ranked 17th last season, according to Football Outsiders.

The Eagles have until 4 p.m. to make a roster cut.
