Shiancoe signs with Patriots

Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe worked out for the Eagles this week, but ended up heading north to join the New England Patriots.

According to Pro Football Talk, he signed a one-year, $1.2M deal with $400,000 guaranteed and $800,000 in incentives.

For now, Clay Harbor and Brett Brackett will compete for the backup spot behind Brent Celek. But given the interest in Shiancoe and Jeremy Shockey, the Eagles could very well bring in another tight end before long.
