Holding Court
This past weekend, my fiancé and I took our annual jaunt to New York to watch the world’s finest as they served, sliced and volleyed their way to victory at the U.S. Open. My hubby-to-be — a teaching pro — studied each shot intently, while I — a former high-school hitter who played because, let’s face it, the tennis team uniforms were much cuter than track or softball — focused on the more … subtle details of the matches (i.e. the fabulous navy Polo outfits the ballboys were sporting; Nadal and Henin’s punchy brights; the bold royal blues worn by Moya and Federer). I was inspired. Not only did these players dominate the courts in above-80 temps, they looked good doing it.

Style is not only about four-inch heels, pedicures, small dogs and big purses. Sometimes it’s about fitness. After all, those who’ve seen fall-fashion previews know there are a fair number of belted waists rushing toward us, shouting “If you can’t stand the cinch, get out of the dress.”
