While Six Flags, Inc., was filing for Chapter 11, local favorite Hersheypark has been following up its 2007 Boardwalk water park and 2008 Fahrenheit coaster with an awesome $67 million “Grand Expansion” that includes the SeaQuel (a 378,000-gallon water-park add-on) and 10 impeccable cottages (nice for family getaways) — plus a year-round outdoor ice rink; bocce, basketball and tennis courts; and a vast outdoor pool complex with water slides, an adult-swim section and rentable cabanas. If you still haven’t taken your summer vacation, this is a totally sweet Shore alternative.
