Feature: Cocktail of the Moment: The Rittenhouse Sour

Liberté at the Sofitel, 120 South 17th Street, 215-569-8300.
 

Step 1
Fill a 10-ounce glass with ice.

Step 2
Add 2 ounces good rye whiskey, 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice, 3/4 ounce simple syrup, and club soda to fill almost to the rim.

Step 3
Slowly pour ounce red wine (preferably merlot) over the back of a bar spoon, so it floats on top of the club soda.

Step 4
Garnish with a piece of crystallized ginger.

Step 5
Drink this now at home, or at Liberté at the Sofitel.
