THRiVE, An Acton Academy is a full-time, licensed, private school in Newtown for Grades 1-6, operating M-F 8:15am to 3:30pm. We also offer weekend Entrepreneurial Workshops that culminate with our annual Children’s Business Fair!
We believe that children are capable of far more than we can even imagine! That is why they deserve an education that equips them to “Learn to Learn”, “Learn to Do”, and “Learn to Be”, if they are to thrive in the 21st century.
“Learning to Learn” is a result of Socratic Discussions and self-paced challenges that equip students to be independent lifelong learners.
“Learning to Do” encompasses hands-on Quests for Science, Entrepreneurship and the Arts that prepare children for apprenticeships and real-world challenges.
“Learn to Be” results from a focus on the Hero’s Journey, relational contracts, and real-world consequences that transform difficult decisions into virtuous habits.
Due to these core principles, our students become independent learners who find great joy in learning and strive towards the highest standards of excellence.
We believe that every child who walks through our doors is a genius. Our job is to equip and inspire them with the skills they will need to pursue their dreams, all while developing a healthy and strong self-esteem. These skills include peaceful conflict resolution, understanding how to communicate and collaborate with others, and thinking creatively to solve problems.
We promise that your child will:
• Begin a Hero’s Journey.
• Learn to be a curious, independent, lifelong learner.
• Develop a deep respect for personal, economic, political and religious freedoms.
• Cherish the arts, wonders of the physical world and the mysteries of life on Earth.
• Discover his or her most precious gifts and learn to use them to solve difficult problems.
