About

A global school with local roots, George School is a Quaker, co-ed, boarding and day high school located on a picturesque, 240-acre campus of open lawns and beautiful woods in Newtown, PA.

George School’s distinctive and customizable Signature Academic Program includes options for local and global experiential learning and truly allows students to live out its mission “to treasure learning for its own sake and use it to benefit a diverse world.” It is also one of few U.S. boarding schools to offer the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program. With the help of a strong and vibrant community, all students are supported as they chart their own path—one that is as challenging as it is rewarding.

What is your teaching or educational philosophy?

A George School education is designed to open intellectual and creative doors and keep them open. Our unique program and invested faculty support students as they think intentionally about their educational goals and chart their own, customized educational path.

George School offers more than 240 courses in a modular schedule format, allowing students to choose a course of study that might include an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, AP coursework, an in-depth exploration of a single field through an independent study, and local and global experiential learning courses. With the support of faculty, advisors, and college counselors, students will create a course of study and academic inquiry that aligns with their passions and curiosity and prepares them for their future.

What is your mission statement?

With Quaker tradition as its touchstone and academic excellence at its core, George School seeks to develop citizen scholars cheerfully committed to openness in the pursuit of truth, to service and peace, and to the faithful stewardship of the earth. We want our students to treasure learning for its own sake and to use it to benefit a diverse world. Above all, we want them to “let their lives speak.”
