What's your background, education and training?

Swarthmore College; B.A.
Harvard Medical School; M.D.
Harvard Plastic Surgery; Residency

Dr. Wright grew up in New York and graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. After earning a Doctor of Medicine degree from Harvard Medical School; he went on to receive his plastic surgery training at the prestigious Harvard Plastic Surgery program. Dr. Wright is a Certified Diplomate of The American Board of Plastic Surgery; a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons; and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Over the past decade; Dr. Wright has worked tirelessly to hone his skills in medicine and surgery to help his patients look and feel their very best.

What is your typical process for working with a new patient?

When you come into the office you check in at the front desk then are brought back to an examination room. Dr. Wright typically knocks on the door to let you know he is about to come in and make sure you are ready in case you are changing. He then asks how he can help you today and listens to your concerns. Some people come in for an opinion on the best procedure for them given a budget and Dr. Wright is happy to guide you through your options. Dr. Wright makes you his priority whenever you are with him because he knows although surgery from breast reconstruction after cancer; to fixing a belly after children; to removing a skin cancer on your face are very routine for him; it is all new to you as the patient and a person.

What advice would you give a patient looking to find a provider in your specialty?

It's a match just like any other relationship. Some people like going to a factory where the doctor runs in and out of the room and where the doctor only performs the surgery and never sees you again. Other people like more of an explanation and they like the doctor to spend a little more time with them. Results are vital but great results combined with pleasing experience is what Dr. Wright strives to deliver to all of his patients.

What inspired your passion for your profession?

Making people feel better and happier about themselves every day all day long. For nearly all my interventions; I enter the scene to help out. If a patient has a new diagnosis or breast cancer; I tell them about the possibilities to help them feel whole again after a possible mastectomy. If a patient has a dog bite to the lip; nose; cheek; or ear; I literally help put them back together while minimizing scarring. If a patient has too much skin and/or fat on their abdomen after children; I help them get look and feel their best with non invasive fat destruction; lipo; SmartLipo; and/or a tummy tuck. If a patient has skin cancer; I excise it to minimize scarring and deformity. Not only are the technical aspects of plastics surgery gratifying for me; but the results are gratifying for all those involved.

What treatments are you most excited to offer?

Abdominoplasty combined with liposuction on patients with extra skin really makes a big difference in these folks outlook on life. After children women work so hard to get their bodies back to a pre-pregnancy form but sometimes the skin has lost its elasticity and just sags or there is stubborn fat that just won't go away. A tummy tuck with liposuction gets people looking and feeling great.

I also love walking a patient through her breast reconstruction with either an implant based or autologous procedure. These people come in so overwhelmed by their diagnosis worried about if they are going to live or die. I like focusing on the quality of life they are going to have in the many decades following their diagnosis thanks to the team work of the breast surgeon; medical oncologist; genetics counselor; nurse navigator; social worker; radiation oncologist and of course me the plastic surgeon.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever received from a patient?

The thing I love most are tears at the post operative visit when people are just amazed at the transformation. Taking off the dressing after an otoplasty (ear pinning) and having the patient and parents with tears of joy really is the best. I also love seeing older patients after a breast reduction wondering why they waited so long to have the surgery and insisting on hugging me.

What makes your practice stand apart?

Dr. Wright and his staff work hard to make your experience and your results as good as possible. From not keeping you on hold too long when you call the schedule to not having you wait too long in the waiting room; we are constantly trying to keep you moving in a pleasant way through the office and your procedures. Dr. Wright spends his time making sure you understand your options and the pros and cons of each option. While he is a skilled surgeon; he is not a magician. Dr. Wright jokingly says before surgery that we are friends now but in the recovery room we may not be friends - but don't worry we'll be friends again. Meaning that when you are having pain; you may not be fond of your surgeon; but once pain lifts and you see your results you are really going to appreciate the care you have received.

What should patients know about your pricing?

Dr. Wright is on the medical staff at Main Line Health and Crozer Keystone. This give his patients flexibility to have their procedures at a facility that might be less expensive for them. For cosmetic procedures the surgeon's fee if fixed and the anesthesia and operating room are time based. You can choose to have your procedure in the surgery center or the hospital if you are going home the same day as opposed to having all the procedures in the hospital which for cosmetic (self pay) surgery is sometimes more expensive. If cost is a large concern; Dr. Wright can work with you within reason.

How many years have you been in business?

Dr. Wright has been practicing in Pennsylvania for over 10 years. He graduated from Harvard Medical School in 2000 and has been practicing plastic surgery in Pennsylvania since 2006.
