About
As a Bryn Mawr native, Dr. Jackie Lyons has always desired to practice medicine close to home. After obtaining her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude, she attended medical school at Temple University. She returns to the Greater Philadelphia area with the newest and most advanced concepts and techniques in plastic surgery after concluding her residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York.
Every patient's surgical experience is unique. Dr. Lyons appreciates how important it is to engage with her patients and to communicate often during the pre- and postoperative process. This collaboration between Dr. Lyons, her surgical team, and the patient helps to identify aesthetic goals, develop a plan based on their values and treatment objectives, and guide them through the surgical journey until those goals are realized. Her practice focuses on breast surgery and body contouring procedures, as well as surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques. In addition to addressing the normal physical changes in appearance that occur during the aging process, Dr. Lyons offers a woman's perspective on how pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding can affect the body. As a surgeon and a mother, she empathizes with how the female form is impacted during childbearing years.
Dr. Lyons' research interests include components of tissue healing. By examining the characteristics of healing tissue, she has an advanced understanding of how the skin repairs itself after exposure to stress, such as surgery. She has used this knowledge to encourage better healing after surgical and non-surgical procedures.
It is well known that the patient population of aesthetic medicine is largely female, yet there are far fewer female plastic surgeons than male surgeons. Dr. Lyons is an active member of the Women In Plastic Surgery Forum and is proud to offer her patients a female perspective on their aesthetic goals.
