About

“A human being is never a commodity. Not for any reason, not under any circumstances.”
I graduated in 1987 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I then completed a General Practice Residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center. I taught on a part-time basis at Penn Dental for four years, and at Einstein ever since 1992.

I’m a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Academy for Adhesive Dentistry, and the Philadelphia Academy of Stomatology, a dental continuing education society founded in 1894 which is the oldest of its kind in the United States. In 2001 and 2003, I served as President of the Academy of Stomatology and for years was Essay Chairman, arranging four scientific lectures each year. Now, I’m Historian, a role that I really enjoy!

Concerned with best treatment outcomes, I innovated 16 years ago by bringing the Surgical Operating Microscope into our dental practice. Our treatments are performed with unparalleled light, magnification and posture. Another vital factor in treatment excellence is the comfort and well-being of all the folks responsible for those treatments. Frustrated by continuing poor ergonomics in dentistry, I joined the remarkable Philly makerspace NextFab in 2016 and fabricated bespoke fixtures and equipment that greatly improve the ergonomics of our dental office. This, in turn, improves patient care. The COVID-19 crisis brought on a whole new set of serious concerns in the practice of dentistry. Working as a team, all of us here have together crafted what we believe to be the safest dental treatment environment possible.
