On Tuesday, October 28th, 2008, guests celebrated the opening of Stephen Starr’s newest restaurant, Butcher and Singer, located at 1500 Walnut Street. Legendary institutions such as the 21 Club in New York City, The Brown Derby in Los Angeles and Frankie Bradley’s in Philadelphia inspired this steak and chop house. At the opening, guests enjoyed classic cocktails as well as sampled an array of hors d’oeuvres prepared by Executive Chef Shane Cash.
On Friday, October 24, 2008, Savona Restaurant paired with Algar Ferrari Maserati to host a truffle tasting. Small tastings prepared by Chef Masciangelo were paired with fine Italian wines hand-selected by Savona’s world-class sommelier, Melissa Monosoff.
On Thursday, October 23, 2008, the U.S. Sports Film Festival debuted in Philadelphia with the gala screening of Running the Sahara. The screening was followed by a panel discussion, and guests enjoyed a viewing of authentic sports costuming and a silent auction.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2008, seven alumni were inducted into the Temple University School of Communications and Theater Hall of Fame at the Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Awards. On Tuesday, October 21, 2008, Hugo Boss and the Philadelphia Phantoms hosted an evening of shopping, cocktails and conversation. The Phantoms hockey team was available for autographs and guests enjoyed a silent auction and bites by Pizzicato and cocktails by Zyr Vodka. Proceeds benefited the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation/Phantoms Charities.
