Police: Cab Driver Robbed, Punched By Guy In Incredibles Superhero Costume

Some suspects are nearly impossible to identify in surveillance video. This one... not so much.

We’re pretty sure this is the first time that a Philadelphia Police Department suspect description has included the line “wearing a red colored ‘Incredibles’ costume.”

Police just released surveillance footage of the suspect wanted for a robbery and assault that took place on Halloween morning at 3:48 a.m. According to police, the guy seen here was down at Front and Spring Garden streets in the wee hours of the morning when he and an also-costumed woman hopped into a cab.

They rode in the cab from the waterfront all the way out to Roxborough, where they got out at the 7-Eleven on the 5800 block of Ridge Avenue without paying their fare, say police. The pair walked into the store to make a purchase, and the driver went in after them, attempting to collect $40. (To be fair, a cab ride from Front and Spring Garden to Roxborough shouldn’t cost anywhere near $40, but we digress.)

Police say that the man and woman walked out of the store and that when the 62-year-old driver made another attempt to get paid, the man allegedly punched him in the face, causing a laceration that was treated at Roxborough Hospital.

The suspect is described by police as follows: “White male, early to mid 20 years-of-age, 5’8″-5’9″, dark hair, stocky build, wearing a red colored ‘incredibles’ costume.”

As for the woman, she has not been identified as a suspect, but police are interested in speaking with her about the events of that night. She can be seen on the surveillance footage, which appears below.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Sloan in Northwest Detectives at 215-686-3353.
