What Eric Daelhousen of South Philly Smökhaus loves so much about traditional Pennsylvania Dutch barbecue is that it “brings out the greatest things in people–it creates a space to talk, to laugh, to eat.” And so, on Saturday, October 8th, he is doing a one-day pop-up at The Dutch to bring this cuisine to a neighborhood that lacks it.

What makes his food so good is the high quality meat, the unique flavor gained by 15 hours spent over charcoal and wood, and his signature rubs and sauces. Daelhousen will serve sandwiches with coleslaw featuring pulled pork and signature BBQ sauce($8) and pit beef and signature horsey sauce($10). Sides($4) will include mac ’n cheese, pit beans and Dutch potato salad. Dessert is Nana’s shortcake with strawberries and homemade whipped cream($6). The event is BYOB but Old City’s Inspired Brew’s “Carrot, Pineapple, Cinnamon” Kombucha($5) will also be available. Because if there’s any beverage out there that just screams barbecue, it’s kombucha.

Where: 1527 South 4th Street
When: Saturday, October 8th, 5:30-11 p.m.
