Eagles Snap Count Analysis
Here’s a look at Eagles snap counts from their Week 1 win against the Redskins.

LeSean McCoy got a heavy workload with 31 carries for 184 yards and was on the field for 81 percent of the team’s offensive snaps. No issues with that in Week 1, but as the season goes on, he’ll probably need a few more breathers.
Bryce Brown had nine carries for 25 yards and played 15 snaps. Chris Polk was active, but only played on special teams.

Riley Cooper played the entire game. He had two catches for 14 yards on six targets, but did a good job as a blocker.
DeSean Jackson had a monster game with seven catches on nine targets for 104 yards and a touchdown. He played all but three snaps.
A lot of talk about the Eagles using two tight ends, but they were still in 11 personnel with one TE and three wide receivers for most of the game. Jason Avant played 65 snaps and had two catches for 13 yards. He made some very good downfield blocks too though.
Surprisingly, Jeff Maehl saw a couple offensive snaps. Only one for Damaris Johnson.
Rookie TE Zach Ertz played 30 percent of the snaps and had one catch for 11 yards. James Casey, who was not a factor all preseason, played just two snaps on offense.

The Eagles went with a six-man rotation on the defensive line. Vinny Curry was inactive. Fletcher Cox played the most snaps (54), followed by Cedric Thornton (53). Isaac Sopoaga came off the field in nickel situations and played 22 snaps.
Bennie Logan, Damion Square and Clifton Geathers were the second-team defensive line.

At outside linebacker, Connor Barwin is rarely going to come off the field. Barwin rushed the passer 60.7 percent of the time and dropped back 39.3 percent of the time. He played all but three snaps. Trent Cole was a beast all night and played 79 percent of the snaps. Per Pro Football Focus, on passing downs, he rushed 80 percent of the time and dropped back into coverage 20 percent.
Brandon Graham appears to be a backup/rotational player at this point. He only played 16 snaps. On passing downs, Graham rushed the passer 13 times and never dropped back into coverage.
DeMeco Ryans (99 percent) and Mychal Kendricks (96 percent) rarely came off the field, although Jake Knott and Casey Matthews did mix in a little in the second half.

The Eagles’ plan going in was to get rookie Earl Wolff some snaps, even though Nate Allen is the starter. Wolff played eight snaps, compared to Allen’s 67. Patrick Chung was the only defensive player to be on the field for 100 percent of the snaps.
The starters at corner were Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher, with Brandon Boykin as the nickel. But Jordan Poyer ended up playing 17 snaps in the slot. At times, Poyer was in the slot and Boykin played on the outside.
