Reid: Vick Has A ‘Pretty Significant Concussion’

Eagles quarterback Michael VickAndy Reid on Monday said that Michael Vick has a “pretty significant concussion.”

While the head coach was not ready to rule Vick out, it sounds unlikely that he would be ready to play Sunday in Washington.

“He was a little foggy last night after the incident. Today, he’s resting. Right now, this period it’s very important that he get some rest,” said Reid. “He has a headache, a pretty good one. He’s tired.”

At the very least, rookie Nick Foles will get the first-team reps at practice on Wednesday, and is in line for his first NFL start on Sunday.

“Preparation is very important,” said Reid. “We’re going against a good football team in the Redskins, another NFC East rival, a loud place. It’s important that he has a silent count down and understands that, which he worked on during the preseason, and that he has his fundamentals down and knows his game plan.”

Vick sustained a concussion early in the second quarter. On 3rd-and-2 from the Philadelphia 37, Ernie Sims came loose on a blitz and hit Vick as he threw. The pass sailed high on what would have been a big gain for LeSean McCoy down the left sideline. Sims helped Vick to his feet, and the offense jogged off the field.

Moments later, Vick was heading inside flanked by members of the training staff. He was 6-of-9 for 70 yards with a touchdown when he left.

Foles came in and ended 22-of-32 for 219 yards with a touchdown, and interception and a lost fumble.

Jeremy Maclin has a low back strain. His status for the week in unknown. Jason Avant (hamstring) is unlikely to play Sunday.

Jason Peters will not practice this week as he continues to rehab his Achilles injury. November 27 is the last day they can activate him to the 53-man roster.

Danny Watkins (ankle) is making progress. There’s a chance he returns to practice this week, according to Reid.
